This is happening now. This image has to reach the rest of the world. The Kayapo being expelled from their homes for the construction of the Belo Monte Dam, which will flood 400.000 acres of the Amazon Rainforest in Brazil.

WTF
Subject: THIS IMAGE SHOULD BE SEEN IN THE WHOLE WORLD
While magazines and TV chains report about the lives and love affairs of movie actors and actresses, football players and other celebrities, the Chief of the Kayapo tribe heard the worst news of his entire life:
Mrs. Dilma, the president of Brazil, has given her approval for the construction of an enormous hydroelectric central (the world’s third largest one).
This means the death sentence for ALL the tribes living at the shores of the river because the barrage will flood more or less 400 000 hectares of the forest.
More than 40 000 natives will have to find other living surroundings where they will be able to survive.
The destruction of the natural habitat, the deforestation and the disappearance of several species of plants and animals will be a fait accompli.
We know that a simple image is the equivalent of a thousand words, it shows the price to be paid for the “quality of life” of our so-called “modern comforts.”
There is no space in the world anymore for those who live differently. Everything has to be smoothed away, that everyone, in the name of globalization must lose his and her identity and way of living.
If this enrages you, I urge and implore you to forward this message to all your friends, relatives and acquaintances.
Thank you in the name of life, nature and biodiversity.

A doctor at a major New York hospital failed to tell a patient he had cancer, and the patient suspects the reason is because he’s transgender.Jay Kallio, a 56-year-old man who transitioned six years ago, says when he underwent a medical exam at the hospital, his doctor seemed “bewildered” by his body. The doctor ordered a mammogram for Kallio but failed to tell him a lump on his breast tested positive for cancer.
He learned about the diagnosis much later, not from the doctor, but when a lab technician called to ask about it.
“I kept hitting this stone wall of non-acceptance,” Kallio told the New York Daily News. “It’s a systemic problem. It was at all levels of providers, from doctors to housekeeping to the nursing staff. People need to be aware that this discrimination will not be tolerated.”
Although the doctor later apologized, Kallio told the Daily News that the time spent to find new physicians has put his health in greater danger.
“It delayed my care past the therapeutic window for chemotherapy,” said Kallio. “You should have chemotherapy within three months of cancer therapy. Because I had to change providers and kept encountering discrimination, it delayed the care. So much of cancer care has to do with early treatment.”
Appalling. Let’s not forget that the Affordable Care Act prohibits discrimination against trans* patients - apparently not everyone’s gotten the memo.this breaks my heart and makes me scared for my future.
Nicole Kidman got into a heated argument with directorLee Danielson the set of new erotic thrillerThe Paperboyafter refusing to use a derogatory term included in the script.
The actress, who plays prisoner John Cusack’s lover in the upcoming movie, pushed her boundaries to the limit by filming three controversial scenes in the first three days of production.
However, Kidman drew the line when it came to using the word “n**ger” and her stance caused major tension with her boss.
Daniels tells the New York Post, “Her character was supposed to say the N-word, and she wouldn’t say it. I was angry. My producer tells me, ‘Are you serious? She bends over a washing machine and takes it from John Cusack in the first day, she has telepathic sex with Cusack in prison on the second day, she urinates on Zac Efron on the third day, and you’re angry because she won’t say the N-word?
“Give the girl a break.’ I said, ‘Alright.’”
FYI Kidman has a black son, so that may be the reason why she chose not to say nigger.
And Lee Daniels also gets a massive side eye. Doing erotic scenes is not on par with a white character saying the word nigger.
and then we have people like jeremy renner….
“No. No more help, enough is enough. People have to pick themselves up, take some responsibility. Why should we be paying for people’s mistakes and bad choices? All these illegitimate families just adding to the population, making all these bad decisions, then asking us to pay for it? It’s time to cut them off.”
I ask for some clarification: what do you mean, just starve them out? What if people can’t find work? Let them starve?
“Look, there’s always something you can do. You telling me people can’t make a choice for a better life? We have to help all of them? No. I’ll tell you what really need to do with these illegitimate families on welfare—give all the kids up for adoption and execute the parents.”
I stare at him and blink in a glaze of shock.
Just to be sure I heard him right, I ask him to repeat it, twice.
“Yes, I mean it. Get rid of all of them, give the kids up for adoption, execute the parents, and you get rid of the problem.” (When I call him back to revisit the issue, he elaborates: “put the children up for adoption and execute the parents, and word would get out soon” that poor people shouldn’t have kids.)

if i ever got to kick the shit out of any fuckstain who thought this way, i would be like “damn, i bet you EXTRA wish my mom never had me,” and then would walk away from their bleeding body really slowly in a shower of all the foodstamps peanut butter my family ate while we were on welfare and all the paystubs my mom had from the three jobs she worked while we were on welfare.

Red shoes display protests violence against women in Mexico
July 27, 2012Mexican visual artist Elina Chauvet placed red shoes in front of the Mexican consulate today in El Paso as an artistic protest against violence against women in Juárez.
More than 200 shoes - from toddler boots to high heels - covered the sidewalk on the west end of the building, where people had lined up to conduct transactions at the consulate.
The ‘Zapatos Rojos’ (Red Shoes) art collective is a call to stand in solidarity with the escalating violence against women in Juárez,” said Chauvet, as she continued to place shoes on the ground. “This display is intended to give visibility to an issue that is no longer receiving the attention it merits. It’s also a way for anyone in the public to participate.”
Mexican officials said about 700 girls and women have been murdered in Juárez since 1993, with the numbers increasing since the drug cartel wars intensified four years ago. An uncertain number are missing.
FOR THE RECORD, it’s called FEMINICIDE
FEMINICIDE has taken place on the border (i.e., El Paso and Ciudad Juárez) since 1992
NEVER BELIEVE THE DATES AND NUMBERS THEY GIVE YOU
EVERYONE IS IMPLICATED IN THIS
THOUSANDS OF WORKING-CLASS WOMEN OF COLOR HAVE DISAPPEARED
BUT NOBODY FUCKING CARES BECAUSE #NAFTA #ICE #GLOBALIZATION #SNUFF #MAINSTREAM MASS MEDIA #THE POLICE #THE STATE
THIS IS SO FUCKING IMPORTANT, PLEASE TAKE A SECOND TO READ ABOUT THIS
you know, i was, until recently, one of those people who ardently, actively, didn’t hope that the coalition government was going to collapse in on itself like a dying star and thus fucking us all beyond all hope of rescue, because that seemed somewhat, oh, i don’t know, completely fucking stupid, and likely to end in total fucking disaster, besides
but as my sole reaction to picking up my newspaper this morning was to SCREAM AND THROW IT ON THE FLOOR
i have changed my mind.
michael ‘couldn’t find my arse with both hands’ gove has decided that the ‘solution’ to britain’s ‘education problem’ is to invent a system of exams so difficult that it is assumed going in that a large portion of the children taking the exam won’t actually be able to finish the exam
the fact that he doesn’t see this as a massive insult to the teaching profession or as a reactionarily elitist move is, of course, entirely emblematic of his entire approach to education policy, which thus far has apparently been to create a top ten list of the things most unlikely to work in the real world and work from there
let me be very clear: conservative education policy has made it very transparent that the tories only care about those they term the ‘elite’, the cleverest children (who are almost exclusively privately educated, in a shocking twist that will surprise no one) who will grow up to rule over the conservative utopia that is surely just around the corner, full of tax breaks and hysterical protestantism and casual racism
people who need to look up the definition of homophobic

this is literally, LITERALLY the stupidest thing i have ever heard
guys that means
we are all pregnant right now
or we are not pregnant
we are literally carrying schrodingers baby

Congressional Quarterly reporter Emily Ethridge offers firsthand knowledge of anti-choice Rep. Steve King’s (R-Iowa) ignorance on women’s health. This comes after King said earlier this morning that he’d never heard of a girl getting pregnant from statutory rape or incest, which was a roundabout way of defending Rep. Todd Akin (R-Mo.), who last weekend asserted that women who are the victims of “legitimate rape” have bodily defenses to avoid pregnancy.
It’s par for the course for conservatives, including Akin, King, and Paul Ryan, who have long sought to redefine “rape.”

Everyone in America should know that an actual candidate for U.S. Senate said this about women who are raped.
